Hello and welcome to my blog! My name is Kerry-Ann and it is wonderful to digitally meet you! Today I'll be sharing with you how I pick cards out of decks during readings.
I have been doing Tarot readings for almost two years now and spent a lot of time trying out different techniques from YouTube videos, articles, books and word-of-mouth advice for the first while whilst I learned the ins and outs of performing readings and interpreting the cards.
The way I believe card readings work is that our spirit guides or angels guide us on what cards to pick so they can send us messages. Because of this I use a method that ensures it is very 'go with the flow' and random. This also helps alleviate the possibility of a coincidence or me somehow picking cards because I 'know' its the right answer to the person's question/ is likely a believable answer and instead leave the picking of the cards completely up to fate.
So this method is also super useful for my fellow people who are horrid at shuffling cards and cannot do any of the fancy tricks! All you need to do is hold the deck of cards in one of your hands and proceed to use your free hand to lift up multiple cards at a time from anywhere in the deck (back, front or anywhere in the middle and can any amount of cards from most of the cards to only one card) and drop some of them in the front of the deck and some of them in the back. You can also slip it in the middle but because we are 'dropping' the cards its just easier doing the front and back.
Next step is to just continue on doing that until a card falls- aka a card doesn't land on your hand and instead falls past. If you are using a certain spread, place that as the first card and redo what you did to then find the second card. You can also keep an eye out for cards that fall sideways instead of land upwards or card that stick out when you grab the cards to drop in the front and back.
The main point is to watch out for the cards that stick that and that call to you. If five cards fall at the same time or if a random card tilts slightly and it just feels wrong or doesn't call to you- put it back in the deck and continue until another card sticks out and it feels right to you.
Another tip if that if you are doing a reading for someone else and want them to be more involved (considering it's their reading) you can shuffle them ask them to pick a card- then shuffle again and ask again for them to pick a card. Simply repeat that to once again make it as random as possible as to try get out any possibility of coincidence, if you catch my drift. (You can also mix it up and do some of the first method and let them pick only some of the cards.)
This process is tedious and will take longer than a quick 'six time shuffle' and pick off of the top but if you're like me, a slight, healthy skeptic who still DOES believe but/ and you just wants to be thorough this method should be the one for you.
You have got this! I believe in you! And even if you make mistakes or do things your own way as long as you follow your heart and intuition you will do amazing things.
Sending lots of love and hugs,
Kerry-Ann
